Tom Tykwer is rapidly becoming one of my favorite directors. Run Lola Run was one of the most original pictures I've ever seen. The Princess and the Warrior (Der Krieger Und Die Kaiserin) is one of the most beautifuly filmed movies I have ever seen. The story, though straight forward, makes little real sense. But it doesn't really need to. It's about living outside oneself, trying to find a connection to ones own life. It's about that sureal feeling you get when you stop and wonder "How did I get here? What am I doing here? Who's been living my life?"
Where Run, Lola, Run was life in hyper drive, this film is much slower. The main characters are half asleep in their own lives and are trying to wake up.
Franka Potente, the flame haired star of Run, Lola, Run is beautiful as a blond in this film. She has such a screen presence. She is not the typical "Hollywood Beautiful", but I find that I cannot stop looking at her when she is on screen.
